Light that looks after people
Kinlight Co. exists because of a short walk. Bed to bathroom, sometime after two in the morning, in a house someone has lived in for thirty years. It is a walk of a few metres and it is the one families worry about most.
Most homes handle it badly. The choice is a ceiling light bright enough to wake the whole house and leave you blinking, or no light at all and a hand along the wall. Neither is a good option, and asking an adult to change how they move around their own home is not a good option either.
What we sell, and what we don't
We only make one kind of thing: automatic light for the hours a house is dark. We are not a lighting store and we do not sell decor. Every product in the range has to earn its place against the same short list.
- Warm, not white. Cool white light is harsh on eyes that have just opened. Everything we choose can run warm and on low-glare, with brighter options too for increased visibility.
- Low, not overhead. Light aimed at the floor shows you the floor. That is what matters at night.
- Automatic, where it counts. A light that needs finding in the dark has already failed. Ours come on by themselves and switch off by themselves.
- No apps, no wiring, no accounts. Nothing that needs a phone, an electrician, or a password. It has to still work in two years with nobody maintaining it.
Who this is for
Two people, usually. An older adult who wants to keep moving around their own home with confidence and without a fuss being made. And an adult child, often a few hundred miles away, who would like to stop lying awake about it.
That is why we sell complete kits as well as single lights. Setting up a parent's home should be one decision, not ten, and it should be finished in an afternoon with no tools.
